Eagle alternative

An Eagle alternative that runs on Linux and reads your pictures.

Galleri is a desktop app for keeping a visual library on your own computer, as Eagle is. It differs in three ways: it runs on Linux as well as Windows, it finds a picture you never tagged when you describe it, offline, and it keeps notes and documents as files beside your pictures. It imports an Eagle library with its tags. macOS is coming soon.

Where Galleri is different.

  • 01

    It runs on Linux

Galleri installs on Debian and Ubuntu, and the same licence covers Windows. Eagle is made for Windows and macOS.

  • 02

It reads the picture, not its label

Eagle’s natural-language search reads the text attached to a file. Galleri’s model looks at the picture itself, so “a storm at sea” finds the storms you never named.

  • 03

The brief lives with the references

Notes are whole documents, kept as Markdown files beside the pictures they are about. PDFs and Word files open in a reader where you mark them up.
